LANSING, Michigan – Flint residents will board a bus Wednesday morning bound for Lansing to express their outrage over the end of water distribution directly to lawmakers. The state showed its preference for corporate profits over public safety last week when it practically gave water to Nestle for free while taking it away from people who pay the highest bills for water they don’t trust.

Activists will rally in the rotunda of the Capitol building to chant and cheer within earshot of the lawmakers in session down the hall. Leaders in the event will also be available for comment and to explain the demands they are seeking from legislators that would make the city of Flint whole again.

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 40 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
