WASHINGTON – Momentum is growing following this weekend’s historic mobilizations opposing Donald Trump and his agenda. People throughout the country will again come together on Tuesday, in more than 100 actions targeted toward U.S. Senators, demanding that they oppose Trump’s troubling agenda and cabinet picks.

People’s Action, MoveOn.org, Working Families Party, and other allies across the country will hold actions at the offices of Democratic and Republican senators on Tuesday with a clear message: “Stop the #SwampCabinet.”

As a candidate, Donald Trump riled up his supporters claiming he’d “drain the swamp” and chase corruption out of Washington, D.C. But, so far, he’s nominated billionaires, bankers and Wall Street insiders poised to carry out the corruption he described during his campaign and enrich themselves at our expense.

People’s Action affiliates around the country pledge to “Rise Up” and stage public events every Tuesday in resistance to President Donald Trump’s agenda and to strengthen our movement for a people-and-planet agenda that serves the needs of all people, not just the wealthy and powerful.

At these rallies at senators’ local district offices, we will tell our lawmakers why Trump’s cabinet is not what America wants or needs. Democrats must use every tool they have to delay and stop these dangerous nominees, and Republicans need to oppose these nominees if they really care about draining the swamp.

“Most Americans didn’t vote for Trump, but nearly all of us will suffer under his administration,” said Seong-Ah Cho, who is participating in the People’s Lobby event in Chicago on Tuesday. “It’s on us to use this crisis, and all our fear and anger, to come together in a powerful movement that will not only resist Trump’s agenda, but also fight for our progressive future.”

“Donald Trump riled up crowds claiming he’d ‘drain the swamp’ and chase corruption out of Washington, but so far his politics have only furthered a culture of corruption, and nowhere is that clearer than in the greed and hate embodied by the nominees to his Swamp Cabinet,” said MoveOn.org Organizing Director Vicki Kaplan.

“Millions of Americans are taking action – meeting, marching, and organizing – to ensure Trump and the GOP don’t take away our health care, destroy public education, pollute our air and water, and put in charge billionaires and racists who look out for only themselves at the expense of the rest of us,” Kaplan said.

People’s Actionis a national organization of more than a million people across 30 states working for economic, racial, gender and climate justice – and to ensure everyone a voice in our political system.

MoveOn.org Civic Action is a community of more than 8 million Americans from all walks of life who are using innovative technology to lead, participate in, and win campaigns for progressive change.

The Working Families Party is a grassroots political organization that fights for economic and racial justice, with chapters in a dozen states and a membership that spans the nation. The WFP is training and electing the next generation of progressive leaders to office, and fighting for and winning public policies that make a difference in the lives of working people.

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 40 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
