WASHINGTON, D.C.–People’s Action released the following statement from Health Care for All Director Aija Nemer-Aanerud on Sen. Sanders’ hearing and the reintroduction of Medicare for All:

“Everyone should get the care they need, when they need it, with no out of pocket costs. Instead, predatory insurance CEOs have created a nightmare in which people are forced to forgo medications, beg for help on fundraising websites, and stay sick and rack up more medical debts. That’s wrong.

“We’re proud that Sen. Sanders held a historic hearing on Medicare for All and reintroduced this landmark legislation. A few greedy corporate insurance executives won’t stop us from winning the collective care we need to thrive.”

About People’s Action

People’s Action is a national network of 40 state and local grassroots, power-building organizations united in fighting for justice. Our organization recently released a vision for a national Homes Guarantee that has already prompted major legislation from champions including U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Rashida Tlaib. We operate the largest progressive rural organizing project in the country. Prior to endorsing Sen. Bernie Sanders for president, we completed a national forum series that The Nation called “the most in-depth, people-powered forum” of the 2020 cycle.”
