WASHINGTON, D.C.—People’s Action today released the following statement by Homes Guarantee Campaign Director Tara Raghuveer in response to the Supreme Court of the United States striking down President Biden’s eviction moratorium:
“Millions of poor and working class people, Black and brown people, women and families will wake up tomorrow at risk of eviction with no place to go. This decision will be a death sentence for some.
“Congress must act immediately to save lives. We need a real eviction moratorium now that is automatic, requires no declaration form, and bans all evictions of any kind, including filings, hearings, and judgements.”
